Thousand Year Old Egg

Normally, I am not a huge fan of Chinese food- neither the authentic nor the overly greasified/sugar-laden/sodium-bombed Americanized version (yup, that includes PF Changs, how dare I…)

However, after hearing so much buzz about Portland, Oregon’s famous Lucky Strike– I headed over to Hawthorne Boulevard on a frigid Wednesday night with three of my homies to give the notoriously fiery Szechuan eatery a go…

Appetizer: Thousand Year Old Egg (it’s actually just a sodium-ified egg) in a chilli/chinese cilantro/garlic/bomb-beyond-the-com sauce:

Yes, those black things are the egg…amazing amazing amazing.

And for the main dishes:

Hot pepper chicken bath. Some get acid reflux looking at this photo, others like me start salivating

Cumin beef with chinese celery…SO CUMINY, so tender, pour on the spice 🙂

Kung Pao chicken- definitely a lucky strike, flavourful chunks of chicken in spicy Kung Pao sauce, tidbits of peanuts, green onions, and of course- chillis.
