Monday the 13th

Today was rough; and after this, I’m off to bed to make sure it gets over sooner

Also, my creativity wanes at night so ignore the title of this post; it is void of any hidden meaning but somehow sounded like a better title than, “A Salad and Some Fur,” or “Some Fur to Melt the Ice,”…forgive me, I am braindead and I would prefer to blog in the morning when I am at my sharpest, but unfortunately those rare nuggets of time are reserved for my morning bubble baths, outfit concocting, and as of recently lunch making (except for the picture below since it is obviously in an environmentally friendly takeout box)

The highlights of this ‘sour-in-an-expired-way’ start to the week: spending my lunch break at my desk munching one of these:

Mixed greens, pears, Rogue Creamery bleu, hazelnuts, dried cranberries, levain

While diluting my mind by selecting some of my recent New York Fashion Week Favourites:

Kevork Kiledjian

Red is my favourite colour…and not because it supposedly makes your pheromones transmit at a more attractive transmission; but also because it is magnificently fierce. And a glorious rouge fur as pictured above would match quite nicely with my car/blackberry/wallet

And while we’re still on the subject of fur…

And just because the Prabal Gurung show was too fabulous to only select one or two pieces from:

Prabal Gurung
Prabal Gurung
Prabal Gurung
Prabal Gurung
Prabal Gurung

And the grand finale:

Prabal Gurung

So elegant. If you have not already figured, I am a tad crazy about the metallic trend– one which admittedly can go terribly wrong and end up looking cheap/sci-fi Area 51 costume party. But not with Prabal. Gorgeous. Absolutely gorgeous.

Sometimes all it takes is a couple of runway shows to get back on track…

…that and breaking my 31 days of “going out”* streak in lieu of picking up a Barbur World Foods shawarma sandwich and spending the evening folding my delicates and doing taxes over Gossip Girl

Whatever. I’m going to bed now. But only after I spend fifteen minutes refreshing my Site Stats while setting up my espresso maker.

How do you deal with a bad day?

What’s your favourite collection from NYFW?

*Going out= ranges from reheating takeout at Naz’s house to nights out on the town in Catherine Malandrino sequin skirts…that predictably end in C Burger takeout gorging in Yurop’s car (and everything in between…that’s all for another post).

  1. Ah sorry your Monday was less than stellar, Sara! I saw on Twitter that some douche left you a rude commnet…consider it a form of flattery: anonymous cares so much to actually devote his/her time to commenting on your blog (regardless of what was written)…and hey when people are talking about u, you know you’ve made it right…or at least that’s what it means in Hollywood! I am loving the NYFW collection, especially that gold, white and champagne dress (2nd from the bottom)!

    1. Thanks Khushboo, I think I had been most struck by it because it was the very first thing I saw upon waking up (you know…alarm goes off, reach for blackberry to see any new e-mails/bbms/tweets/etc–and that’s what came up). But hey I’m flattered, I feel like I’ve finally been initiated into the realm of being a legitimate blogger now that I can commiserate with others about the ‘Anons’ and the ‘Trolls.’
Oh yess and isn’t that Prabal dress glorious! I need to go back to Bombay so I can have places to wear dresses like that

  2. I’m so sorry your day was crappy…Mondays can do that to you.

If it’s any consolation I ate at my desk and my lunch was nowhere near as tasty looking as yours.

I so wish I was at NYFW.

  3. Blurgh. Mondays are the worst, sometimes. Sorry this one was exceptionally Monday-ish.

Those Prabal pieces are to die for. Ohmygod. I think I just spent an hour gazing at their glory – thanks for introducing me to my newest obsession 🙂

  4. Sorry to hear you had a crappy day Sara! My fixes often include comfort food and sub-standard reality TV.

As an aside, at the risk of sounding like a vegan cliche – I really wish more high-end designers would embrace faux fur like Prada and Stella McCartney.

    1. Thanks Nada- and yes to the comfort food; which to me of course is a falafel sandwich or some koshary.
Does Prada do mostly faux fur? I had no idea!
