I don’t know about you, but sometimes I just want my supper to be a surprise.
Ironically enough, I prefer having an alternate party do the legwork of making a decision for where we should dine (and sometimes even WHAT since I am not as much of a fussy eater as I would like to be).
Anyhow, I was recently contacted via e-mail by Irene, a representative for the (nearly) brand new Portland chapter of Dishcrawl. Dishcrawl is essentially a company which partners with local restaurants to curate monthly dining experiences for the public. All you have to do, is check out their site, see if that month’s particular theme/location/time is of interest to you, purchase a ticket and show up at a mystery meeting spot (which will be disclosed within a couple of days prior to the event). Once present you are taken to 3-5 mystery restaurants where offerings are presented to you to allow a multi-dimensional local dining experience.
I met Irene, a bubbly Italian lady with a penchant for Oregonian IPAs at The Bent Brick on NW 17th and Marshall. While she sampled beers, I ordered a Temperance Bourbon cocktail and we discussed Dishcrawl and all the exciting ideas she had for it to become as big of a thing in Portland as it is in California and other cities throughout the US and Canada.
The next Dishcrawl Event will be taking place at 7pm on Wednesday, May 8th, and below is a screenshot description to add a tinge of visual stimulation to this otherwise wordy post:
Also look for another post next week as Irene has invited me to accompany her to one of the preview suppers for the event, so I may or may not get to leak to you one of the East Burnside eateries which will be featured! Only 14 tickets left as of this morning, so if you aren’t doing anything on Wednesday the 8th, this is definitely something you won’t want to miss!
PS: If you’re interested in perhaps winning a free ticket, fellow PDX Food Blogger, Portland Palate is hosting a contest, so here CLICK HERE to check it out!
